It is increasingly difficult to keep your password secret these days. Even a long and complex password cannot offer any protection when websites store your password in plain-text and get hacked. Yahoo is a recent example where lots of passwords where published. Some people say passwords are outdated and new authentication methods are required. The use of one-time passwords can solve a part of the problem. This article is about the Yubikey, a one-time password (OTP) solution available on a USB token. With Yubikey it is possible to enable two-factor authentication; your usual username and password along with a one-time password. I will discuss the Yubikey and the integration in WordPress, Roundcube and Linux using the YubiCloud. If you want to learn more about the Yubikey and YubiCloud, read on.
